The golden dunes of the Arabian desert hold countless untold mysteries. In Fatima and the Desert Star, Emirati author Fatma Alnuaimi invites young readers on an unforgettable journey across rolling sand dunes guided by celestial wonder, loyalty, and quiet courage.
The Heart of the Story
When young Fatima gazes up at the velvet night sky above her family’s oasis encampment, she spots a luminous starlight that seems to whisper a secret. Accompanied by her loyal desert companion, she sets forth on a quest that teaches her that true guidance comes not from external maps, but from trusting one’s inner honesty and compassion.
Celebrating Authentic Emirati Culture
Every illustration and passage in the book was carefully composed to reflect authentic Arabian heritage:
- Traditional Attire & Majlis Warmth: Gentle artistic depictions honoring local heritage and familial respect.
- Desert Wildlife: Introducing young readers to graceful Arabian gazelles, desert foxes, and ancient date palms.
- The Poetry of the Night Sky: Celebrating the historical navigational wisdom of Arabian stargazers who navigated dunes and seas by the constellations.
“I wanted children to look out at our desert not just as sand, but as a living canvas of history, resilience, and boundless imagination.”
